Life-Changing Patient Success Stories

Rob Dulieu proudly shares how so many of our patients experience life-changing results. From renewed confidence in social situations to improved eating habits, quality dentures can genuinely transform lives.

These stories illustrate how the right care can improve oral health and significantly impact a patient’s overall wellbeing and confidence.

Upper Dentures

The Anxious Patient

Rob recently had a patient who was incredibly anxious about her teeth. She had only 4 remaining teeth on the top arch and had been wearing a lower denture for years that was terribly worn down. The patient's anxiety was so severe that she couldn't even use the lift in the building and had to walk up 7 flights of stairs to reach the dental office. Despite her initial fears, by the end of her treatment, the patient had become much more comfortable.

The Dental Fresh team managed to fit her with a new upper denture replacing the failing teeth and a brand new lower denture.

The transformation was remarkable - not only in terms of her dental health but also her overall demeanour. By the end of her treatment, the patient was confidently using the lift to leave the office. She even sent Rob a selfie, beaming with her new smile.

Dental care during senior years make a difference to overall health

The Transformed Man

Another story Rob shared was about a tall man, about 6 foot 6 Initially, this patient would never smile and would cover his mouth even when talking to the staff at the practice.

The Dental Fresh team made him a new set of teeth, both upper and lower dentures. When he first saw his new teeth, the patient, despite his tough appearance, burst into tears. The transformation went beyond just his teeth. When he returned for his two-week review, he had gotten a haircut and a shave. He shared stories about positive changes in his life, including new relationships.

Rob emphasised how the difference was visible not just in the patient's teeth, but in his eyes. The patient continues to visit every 6 weeks, and Rob describes him as "a great guy," highlighting the ongoing relationship they've built.

Upper and Lower Implant-retained Teeth

The Veteran

Fletch had served in the Afghan war and returned with post-traumatic stress disorder, a condition that resonated with Rob due to his own grandfather's war experiences. The Dental Fresh team gave Fletch upper and lower implant-retained teeth. This case was particularly meaningful for Rob, describing it as "a massive highlight of my career."

The impact of their work continues, with Rob occasionally receiving supportive text messages from Fletch, checking in on him and offering encouragement.

The transformation in Fletch's life following his dental treatment was remarkable. With his new implant-retained teeth, Fletch regained his smile, confidence, and zest for life. He found himself more comfortable in social situations, enjoying a wider variety of foods and even reported improvements in his speech clarity.

Key Points to Remember about Dentures

Dentures provide a versatile solution for missing teeth, ranging from partial dentures replacing a few teeth to full dentures replacing an entire arch. With proper care, they can last 5-7 years.

The process of getting dentures typically takes 3-6 weeks, involving multiple appointments for impressions, fittings, and adjustments to ensure a comfortable and natural-looking result.

Proper care and maintenance are essential for denture longevity and oral health. This includes daily cleaning, proper storage, and regular dental check-ups for adjustments and oral examinations.

Proper aftercare and maintenance are crucial for the long-term success of your dental implants. This includes good oral hygiene practices and regular dental check-ups.

At Dental Fresh, we offer a range of denture options, including traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures, and All-on-4® solutions. We provide personalised care at every stage.

Caring for Your Dentures

  • Clean daily with a soft brush and mild soap or denture cleaner.
  • Rinse after meals and soak overnight.
  • Schedule regular check-ups for professional cleaning and adjustments.
  • Consider replacement every 5-7 years or as advised by your prosthetist.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get dentures?

The process typically takes 3-6 weeks from start to finish.

Will dentures affect how I speak?

There may be a short adjustment period, but most people adapt quickly.

Can I sleep with my dentures in?

It’s generally recommended to remove dentures at night to give your gums a rest.

How often should I have my dentures checked?

We recommend at least annual check-ups for optimal fit and function.

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?

Most people adapt to their new dentures within 2-4 weeks. During this time, you may experience some minor discomfort or changes in speech, but these typically resolve as you become accustomed to your dentures.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

While you’ll need to start with softer foods, most denture wearers can return to a normal diet. However, you may need to avoid very hard or sticky foods. Implant-supported dentures and All-on-4® solutions offer the closest experience to natural teeth regarding eating ability.

How do I know if I need new dentures?

Signs that you may need new dentures include looseness, discomfort, difficulty chewing, changes in facial structure, or visible wear on the dentures. We recommend having your dentures evaluated at least once a year to check their fit and condition.

Are there any alternatives to traditional dentures?

Yes, alternatives include implant-supported dentures and All-on-4® dental implants. These options provide greater stability and can prevent bone loss. During your consultation at Dental Fresh, we’ll discuss all available options to find the best solution for your needs.
